Phygital Shooter

Introducing Phygital Shooter
Phygital Shooter is an innovative hybrid sport that fuses high-level esports with real-life tactical challenges. It seamlessly blends digital and physical combat into a single, adrenaline-fueled competitive format, delivering a groundbreaking shooter experience that appeals to fans of both virtual gaming and live-action tactical disciplines.
Competition Format
There are 8 teams taking part in the competition - split into two groups of four by a draw. The competition starts with a Round Robin Group Stage. Following an initial draw, teams face each other within their group.
Teams
Each team has between five and seven athletes - with exactly five competing in each stage. Players must be over 16 to take part.
2 stages
Digital (video game on PC) + Physical (laser tag on 5-a-side)
Digital Stage
The digital stage takes place in a tactical first-person shooter game, featuring 5v5 matches played across two maps. The two maps are chosen through a pick-or-ban process, where teams alternate banning maps until two remain. Prior to the first round of each map, a knife round is held to decide which team starts on the attacking and defending side. Each map is played until a team wins 13 rounds - with each round lasting 1 minute and 55 seconds. Teams swap sides after 12 rounds and no player substitutions are allowed between maps.
Physical stage
The Physical Stage is a laser tag competition utilizing a "Digital Flame Activation" format. Matches are played in a 5v5 format, with victory going to the first team to win 6 rounds.
The starting sides for the Physical Stage are determined by the outcome of the preceding Digital Stage match. The team that played on offense in the final round of the Digital match will begin the Physical Stage on defense. Teams swap sides after 5 rounds.
Each round lasts three minutes. However, if the Digital Flame is activated during the final 40 seconds of the initial three-minute period, the round is automatically extended. The round will continue until the activation timer expires (reaches zero).
How winner is decided
Group Stage
During the group stage, teams accumulate points based on their performance in both the Digital and Physical stages. In each match, teams can earn between 0 and 3 total points as follows:
Digital Stage: 1 point is awarded per map win (up to 2 points total for a 2–0 sweep, or 1 point each if the maps are split 1–1).
Physical Stage: 1 point is awarded to the winner of the Physical Stage.
The overall winner of the match is the team that accumulates a total of 2 or 3 points across both stages.
Group standings are determined by the total points accumulated across all group matches. At the conclusion of the group stage, the top two clubs from each group will advance to the playoff stage.
Playoff stage
Each match consists of two CS2 maps (Digital Stage), followed by the Physical Stage if required.
2–0 Victory: If a team wins both CS2 maps, they are declared the match winner (2–0) and the Physical Stage is not played.
1–1 Tie: If the Digital Stage ends in a 1–1 tie, the match proceeds to the Physical Stage.
Final Result: The winner of the Physical Stage secures the match victory with a final score of 2–1.
