Day two is done, and what a ride it was. The Phygital Contenders: Abu Dhabi – Football tournament brought even more intensity, flair, and a couple of heated moments that had everyone talking.
Club of the day? Could easily go to Mexico Quetzales - Armadillos FC, who kept their perfect form alive with a jaw-dropping 11–4 win over Gentle Neighbours. They were behind 4–3 after the digital stage but came alive on the turf. Eder Ivan Giorgana Hernandez was on fire with five goals, while Eddie Gabriel Sánchez Ramírez dropped a hat-trick that set the place alight.
"Our goal is to be in The Games of the Future. We’re a balanced team, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. Every match is a final for us,” said Rodrigo Ulibarri, player, Mexico Quetzales - Armadillos FC.
Then came the fireworks.
La Crema faced off against CEFL PHYGITAL in one of the tensest games of the tournament so far. Digital round? 5–4 to CEFL. But the real heat came on the field. La Crema stormed back with a 5–0 physical stage win. Star player Marcos Prez (Markito) led the charge with a brace.
Zero Tenacity continued the comeback theme of the day. Down after the digital stage against Alkhdour DC, they pulled off a gritty, physical turnaround to end 12–10. It was a clash full of heavy tackles, and passionate play to add to the day’s drama.
“Phygital sport is about mental strength, never losing focus and hope. If you believe in yourself, you can do anything. We showed that on the pitch and made sure we would get the win no matter what,” said Roksic Marko, goalkeeper and captain, Zero Tenacity.
In the fourth round, KMF Titograd edged out their competitors, AIGLES PHYGITAL, in a close 9-7 win. In another nail-biter, IndexG overcame Interstellars - Team Joga in a heart-stopping penalty shoot-out following a 10-goal thriller. It was high drama to the very last kick!
CM Jardim showed class and style against PGM Covic, dominating the field with five unanswered goals after a balanced 3–3 digital round.
The day wrapped with an absolute classic: a 25-goal spectacle between Libertadores PT and Street Ball, making this the highest-scoring match so far. Libertadores PT squeezed through, but both teams delivered unforgettable performances.
