Team KZ are the new Phygital Shooter champions at GOTF 2026

Local team Team KZ have been crowned the new champions of Phygital Shooter CS2 presented by Yandex Go, beating Liga Pro Team in an epic final that ended 2-1.

Over five days of competition, eight of the top teams in the world have battled it out across both Counter-Strike 2 and the laser tag arena, with Team KZ delivering performance after performance, coming top of their group in the early stages and delivering several 3-0 results on the way to the final.

After the first map, Team KZ took the lead. Liga Pro Team showed their experience in the laser tag arena, to level the match and force a final CS2 map. In the tightest game, both teams fought hard and there was nothing to separate them. However, Team KZ managed to deliver the final kills, win the map and secure the trophy with the US$50,000 prize pot.

“We knew Liga Pro Team had the advantage in laser tag. They are a top-ranked laser tag team, and we knew we didn't really have a chance there. So, we focused on Counter-Strike and believed that we could win. Thank you, everyone!” – Ruslan Borzhikov, Team KZ, Phygital Shooter 2026 champions.

The day started with the third-place match where last year’s champions NOVAQ took on the number-two CS2 team in the world, Minsk House. The anticipated clash of titans actually turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Minsk House delivered stand-out performances both in the digital stage and in the laser tag arena, securing a straight 2-0 win and a prize of US$20,000.

Last day of the Games of the Future Astana 2026

So that may be it for Phygital Shooter CS2 presented by Yandex Go for this year but there’s still more action to be had at Games of the Future Astana 2026 before it ends tomorrow (9 August). The tournament is set to conclude with the finals of the remaining two disciplines still to be completed. In MOBA Mobile presented by Freedom, Selangor Red Giants will take on Aurora Gaming in the fight for third place, followed by the title battle between ONIC and Bigetron by Vitality. The action starts at 16:00 local time.

Also taking place is the highly anticipated final in Phygital Football presented by Samruk-Kazyna, in which reigning champions Quetzales-Armadillos will defend their title against NS Team. You can watch the ultimate showdown from 18:00. Earlier in the day, the match to decide third place will see Club Holcattes take on FC OLYMPIC PHYGITAL. Kick-off is at 16:30.
