Decider day in Phygital Football sees four teams knocked out of Games of the Future 2026

06/08/2026

It was a last throw of the dice for the teams who had failed to make it straight through to the quarterfinals of Phygital Football UFL presented by Samruk-Kazyna. They had one last chance to stay in the tournament or face the journey home.

So, tensions – and expectations – were high. Here’s how it went.

ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES v UEL Team

After narrowly surviving elimination on day two, UEL Team really wanted a convincing performance today and it showed. They wasted no time taking control, scoring twice during the digital stage to give themselves a solid 2-0 advantage on the pitch.

The momentum stayed firmly with them in the physical stage as Bolt found the net early to extend the lead. ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES briefly gave themselves hope when Kylie pulled one back, but the response was immediate. Arnold restored the three-goal cushion with a stunning strike from midfield, before UEL Team added another moments later, leaving the crowd stunned with five minutes still to play.

Many wondered if ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES would repeat yesterday’s remarkable comeback, and they certainly threw everything into their attack. But they were too chaotic and the UEL Team defence too disciplined. UEL advance to face the reigning champs.

Digital stage: ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES 0-2 UEL Team
Physical stage: ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES 1-3 UEL Team
Final result: ORLANDO PIRATES FIVES 1-5 UEL Team

"Personally, I'm ecstatic to be facing the current Games of the Future champions, Quetzales–Armadillos. It's an opportunity for us to show that we're genuine contenders for the title. I think it's going to be a fantastic match, with lots of fans, high stakes and every goal meaning that much more."Konstantin “Chpokyn” Mamkhegov, UEL Team

Club Holcattes v Tamo Junto

The second match of the day also saw one team seize control early. Club Holcattes produced an excellent digital stage, scoring three for a strong advantage before stepping onto the pitch.

Tamo Junto, however, refused to go quietly. They came flying out of the blocks, scoring twice inside the first two minutes to suddenly put Club Holcattes under real pressure. What had looked like a comfortable lead quickly became a tense battle.

Club Holcattes responded well, creating several chances, but Tamo Junto's goalkeeper was equal to the task. The breakthrough finally came just before halftime, as Club Holcattes snatched a two-goal cushion to make it 4-2 overall. The second half proved far tighter, with neither side able to add to the scoreboard, meaning Tamo Junto's tournament has come to an end.

ACF x Allur extended their lead to 5-1 just before halftime, giving them one foot in the quarterfinals. However, KMF TITOGRAD did not let go, managing to score again with just 27 seconds remaining. In the second half, Planas pulled one back, setting the scene for a nervy finish.
