MOBA Mobile MLBB title race begins in Astana

Sixteen of the world's best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang clubs lit up The Hood in Astana on day one of the MOBA Mobile MLBB presented by Freedom.

Today marked the start of six days of competition at the Games of the Future 2026 powered by Samruk-Kazyna. With a share of the US$900,000 prize pool at stake, teams wasted no time trying to gain an early edge in the race for the knockout stages.

From commanding 2-0 victories to hard-fought three-game battles, the first day's action showcased the depth of competition on display, with every result proving crucial in the race for a place in the playoffs.

Before the competition even started, however, Team Falcons were awarded a victory after Team Spirit had to concede a technical fault. Here’s how the rest of the day went.

Bigetron by Vitality 2-1 Team Vamos

Bigetron by Vitality and Team Vamos played out a thrilling three-game series to kick off the opening day of group stage action. Team Vamos started strongly, claiming the opener after overturning Bigetron by Vitality’s early lead .Bigetron by Vitality hit back in game two, staying composed in a relatively one-sided contest to secure the series. With everything on the line, Bigetron by Vitality took control of the decider, dictating the pace to seal the win in just over 18 minutes and take the series 2-1. Eman “Emann” Sangco was named the best player of Game 3, finishing with 11 kills and three assists.

Moreno “Morenooo” Sinulingga from Bigetron by Vitality said: “We have a target at the Games of the Future, which is to win. Our last tournament wasn’t great, so we want to bounce back as a team and prove ourselves here.”

DIAN FENG YAO GUAI 2-1 ENTITY7

ENTITY7 and Dian Feng Yao Guai delivered one of the closest series of the group stage, requiring all three games to produce a winner. Dian Feng Yao Guai took the opener after a hard-fought 20 minutes, but ENTITY7 responded emphatically in the second game, finishing with 19 kills and six turrets. However, Dian Feng Yao Guai regained control in the decider, using strong team fighting and disciplined objective play to take the series 2-1.

Andres "zzzed" Liu Chen of DIAN FENG YAO GUAI said: "Our communication was really good throughout the match, and the way we approached the team fights was exactly how we planned beforehand. We were also happy with our hero picks because everything went the way we had discussed. In the game we lost, we misjudged some timings early on, but we'll learn from that. We're looking forward to facing every team in the competition, so whoever comes next is fine with us."

FUT Esports 2-0 Bushido Wildcats

FUT Esports delivered a dominant performance to secure a convincing 2–0 victory over Bushido Wildcats.

FUT Esports took control from the offset, finishing with seven kills to none and destroying two towers in just over 11 minutes.
They carried that momentum into the next game, once again controlling the map to complete a convincing straight-games victory and sealing the series.

Mustafa "Saiki" Ege Akin from FUT Esports was the top performer after an outstanding display, recording a 1/1/8 KDA, 81.8% kill participation and 645 GPM.

Mustafa "Saiki" Ege Akin from FUT Esports said: "It was a really fun match, even though both games were over very quickly. I was hoping we wouldn't have to play Bushido Wildcats because we know each other well, but that's how the draw worked out. Tomorrow we'll give everything we have because I believe we can win. Personally, I know I could have done better at the start of the second game after dying early, but it's something I'll learn from."

Selangor Red Giants 2-0 Aurora Gaming

Selangor Red Giants (SRG) added another straight-games victory to the opening day's results, defeating Aurora Gaming 2-0 in a series that combined early dominance with a hard-fought finish.

SRG controlled the opening game from the outset, with the partnership between Hazziq "Stormie" Rizwan and Muhammad "Yums" Suhairi setting the pace, and closed it out in under 13 minutes. Aurora Gaming mounted a much stronger challenge in the follow-up, pushing the contest beyond the 20-minute mark – but the decisive mid lane battles secured the second map and the series.

Michael Angelo Bocado, head coach of Selangor Red Giants, said: "We spent a lot of time reviewing what went wrong in our last tournament and making the adjustments we needed, both technically and mentally. The first game went exactly how we wanted, while in the second we made a few mistakes in the mid game that we'll look to improve. Every team here is top tier because this is a world-class tournament, so we're excited for whoever we face next."

ONIC 2-0 PRO ESPORTS

From the opening minutes of the first game, ONIC dictated the pace with relentless aggression, securing key early kills and snowballing their advantage before dismantling PRO ESPORTS' base in under 11 minutes.

The next game followed a similar script as ONIC once again took complete control. Their sharp draft, disciplined objective play and relentless pressure left PRO ESPORTS with few opportunities to recover. Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol claimed a top performance, finishing with a 5/0/7 KDA, 810 GPM and 72.2% kill participation.

Gilang “S A N Z” from ONIC said: “We achieved everything we set out to do during the game, so it felt fairly comfortable for us.”

The MongolZ 0-2 Rune Eaters

Host city team Rune Eaters set a tournament-high with 31 kills in the first game. The second game proved even more decisive, with Rune Eaters wrapping up the series in just 11 minutes after recording another dominant 24-kill performance. AITZHAN "KING GVERB" starred in the victory with six kills and 10 assists.

Geekay Esports 2-0 ALPHA7

Despite ALPHA7 showing plenty of attacking intent in the opening minutes of the first game, Geekay Esports took complete control after the five-minute mark and never looked back.

Game Two saw early pressure from ALPHA7 undone by communication breakdowns that allowed Geekay Esports to take over. Yazan "Yaga" Alsawaris from Geekay Esports recovered from an early death without registering a kill to finish with an impressive eight of his team's 15 eliminations.

Mohamed “Shen” Elshanawany from Geekay Esports said: "I don't think we showed our full potential today. We can still play better, but I'm confident we'll put in strong performances throughout the tournament. In the second game, we made a few mistakes early on, but once we regrouped and fought around the objectives as a team, we executed our combinations well and turned the game around. I was also really happy with our draft."
