Phygital Dancing Final: Andres Guardo crowned winner at Phygital Contenders Astana 2026

11/06/2026

Andres Guardo has won the Phygital Dancing competition at Phygital Contenders Astana 2026 after delivering a standout performance in a fiercely contested final.

Following an intense qualification stage yesterday (10 June), the strongest eight performers returned for a decisive second day, where Guardo combined precision, rhythm and phygital flair to rise above the competition. His winning display earned him the championship title and a ticket to the Games of the Future 2026, which begins in Astana on 29 July.

A total of six athletes will advance to the Games of the Future 2026 Phygital Dancing competition. The top four finishers from the Phygital Contenders Astana 2026 tournament have secured automatic qualification, while the remaining two places will be awarded based on overall rankings. Those final qualification spots will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The second day was built on rhythm and control

The quarterfinal stage brought together eight athletes, each looking to turn qualification momentum into a championship-winning performance. From this group, Andres Guardo, Sagdi, Susan Huertas and Sergio Mayta advanced to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals produced two closely contested matchups. Susan Huertas and Sagdi were inseparable after the opening two rounds. Sagdi did herself no favors by failing to complete a dance move in the second round and earning a 1000-point penalty. She bounced back in the decisive third-round showdown, however, and ultimately booked her place in the final.

The second semi-final was equally dramatic, as Andres Guardo and Sergio Mayta traded strong performances in a contest defined by the narrowest margins before Andres ultimately came out on top.

Susan Huertes returned to the stage for the third-place playoff against Sergio, producing a commanding performance to secure a straight-round victory (2-0).

The final match delivered a fitting conclusion to the competition. Andres Guardo and Sagdi went head-to-head in a high-quality final, but it was Andres who rose to the occasion, winning two of the three rounds to secure the title. Combining precision, rhythm, and exceptional digital accuracy, he consistently delivered under pressure to complete an outstanding tournament run.

"I think what set me apart was my personality. In everyday life, I'm quite reserved, but when I step onto the stage, I become a completely different person. I feel that transformation is what made the difference in my performance," said Andres Guardo from Colombia

As a result of the Phygital Dancing tournaments, these athletes qualified to GOTF 2026:

Winner: Andres Guardo
Runner-up: Sagdi
Third place: Susan Huertas
Fourth place: Sergio Mayta
