The road to the Games of the Future 2026 narrowed further today as the playoff stage got underway at Phygital Contenders Astana 2026. With the group stage complete, teams entered the playoffs knowing that every match could be their last. Here's how the day unfolded.
Oeste SP v Lahore Athletics FC
The teams were level at 1-1 after the digital stage, with neither side able to gain a meaningful advantage heading onto the pitch. However, Oeste SP took complete control once the physical stage began, scoring six times to pull away from their opponents. Marcus Samora and Maicon Macabeu each found the net twice as Oeste SP produced one of its strongest performances of the tournament. They have booked their place in the quarterfinal, while Lahore Athletics FC's campaign has come to an end.

After a closely contested digital stage, Noname Club emerged with a slender 1-0 advantage despite Los Fieles creating several promising opportunities of their own. The physical stage then produced one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the tournament. Los Fieles surged into a 3-0 lead and looked firmly in control, but Noname Club mounted a stunning late comeback, scoring four consecutive goals in the closing stages to overturn the deficit and secure a 5-3 victory. The result sends Noname Club through to the quarterfinals and Los Fieles home.

KMF Titograd v JR Style
After a goalless digital stage, the playoff tie came to life on the pitch. JR Style struck first and looked to have seized the initiative, but the momentum shifted when their goalkeeper was forced off through injury. KMF Titograd capitalized on the disruption, scoring twice in quick succession to take control of the contest. JR Style responded well and found an equalizer shortly afterwards, setting up a tense finish between two evenly matched sides. However, KMF Titograd regained the momentum and added two more goals to secure a 4-2 victory, with Balsa Bojanovic completing a hat-trick in the process. The result sends KMF Titograd into the quarterfinals after another impressive performance.

MNK v FC OLYMPIC PHYGITAL
The final playoff match of the day proved to be one of the closest contests of the tournament so far. Neither side was able to establish a decisive advantage, with the digital stage finishing 1-1 before the teams matched each other again on the pitch to leave the score locked at 2-2. With nothing separating the teams after both stages, the match became the first at Phygital Contenders Astana 2026 to be decided by a penalty shootout. MNK missed their opening attempt while FC OLYMPIC PHYGITAL converted, immediately gaining the advantage. Both sides then found the net with their next penalties before MNK missed again, allowing FC OLYMPIC PHYGITAL to secure a dramatic victory and claim the last place in the quarterfinals.

After three days of competition, only eight teams remain in the hunt as the tournament enters its decisive stage.
