PlayTime crowned MOBA PC Dota 2 champions

PlayTime are the new Games of the Future champions of MOBA PC Dota 2 presented by CenterCredit, following a comprehensive 3-0 win against Yakult Brothers in the grand final on Wednesday (5 August).

Despite falling behind early in both the first and third games, PlayTime showed remarkable composure to fight back on each occasion, while a dominant second-game performance put them firmly in control of the series. Their resilience ultimately proved decisive enough to lift the trophy and claim the biggest share of the US$1 million prize pool.

Celebrating his team’s historic win, PlayTime’s Hector "Wits" Maximo Orozco Alza said afterwards: “Winning at the Games of the Future 2026 feels amazing. I think the key was that everyone focused on their own game. Everyone was completely concentrated and because of that there wasn't really any room for mistakes. We stayed focused from start to finish and I think that made the difference for us.”

Despite falling short of the title, Yakult Brothers delivered an impressive performance in the grand final, pushing the champions all the way with hard-fought displays to finish as runners-up.

Earlier in the day, Team resilience performed exceptionally in the third-place playoff match against home team Rune Eaters, controlling both games from start to finish and concluding their campaign on a high.

"The key to today's performance was that we understood which heroes our opponents were strongest with and we were able to counter them effectively. Of course, it's a little disappointing that we couldn't reach the final and compete for the championship. But overall, we're very satisfied with our journey at the Games of the Future 2026," said Kongbo “niu” Li of Team resilience.

Held as part of the Games of the Future 2026 powered by Samruk-Kazyna, the MOBA PC Dota 2 presented by CenterCredit competition brought together 16 of the world's leading teams in Astana, showcasing the highest level of esports talent.
